PocketPOS operates on CE based PDA’s, like Fujitsu’s new line of wireless PCs, which are spill resistant and ruggedized to sustain a drop of up to four feet. It features a full color 8-inch screen with an LCD display that is easy to read, even in bright sunlight. A backlight makes it easy to use in the dark, and can be switched off to conserve battery power and the Li-ion battery lasts up to nine hours.

They can access real-time inventory information (including out-of stock items), lists of ingredients, wine pairings and calorie information then send food & beverage orders directly from the table. As the service people interact with customers, foodrunners would be responsible for carrying out the orders, as they’re ready.
As well, the restaurant manager can use PocketPOS to access reservations, inventory counts, hourly reports and performance statistics from anywhere in the restaurant. With PocketPOS, products may be added from the front end and all POS terminals are updated in real-time. This wireless solution can also manage reservations, so the hostess may continuously update the waiting list as she interacts with customers. PocketPOS will shortly feature printing and credit card transactions to bring increased speed and efficiency to the completion of business.
So far, the main customers of PocketPOS have been table service restaurants, entertainment complexes and clubs with outdoor patios that are able to benefit from the extended reach of the handheld terminal.
