Skyline Chili is a regional institution that has been operating since 1949. Peter Perdikakis is a Skyline franchisee with three locations in the Cincinnati area. When he was originally approached by PixelPoint reseller Randy Burnett, Ideal Inventory Systems, he was a bit skeptical about how a POS system was going to help him run his business better. 

Peter’s  restaurants were already the fastest-serve restaurants in town with the added charm of serving patrons on china and with real silverware, as opposed to plastic plates and silverware used by traditional fast food restaurants. The key to the speedy service was that waiters and waitresses took customers' orders and immediately shouted them over to the steam table where the orders were prepared. No computer system would be faster than that, he figured. Since his customers depended on fast service, he was worried slower service would cost him business. Peter needed a wireless POS solution that would fit his unique needs and not slow down service.

"I thought about how we could get the best part of the system - inventory control and menu flexibility -without slowing our service and I realized that the only way it could work is with wireless technology," explains Perdikakis.

As it turned out, PixelPoint offered a seamless integrated POS and wireless solution, which enabled wait staff to enter orders and fire them off to the steam table immediately. This solved the service problem and in the process, Perdikakis gained a better inventory control system that he could review at any time without interfering with the restaurant operation.

"Since we have started using  Pocket POS we have been able to give our customers faster service than before.  The system has given us a lot of data capture capability for inventory, time-keeping and payroll," says Perdikakis. "It 's eliminated errors in addition and tax calculation and has even added a little speed to our service operation. It does everything I need a system to do."
